Bitter Melon as DIABETES Treatment

bitter melon
Bitter melon (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Bitter melon or Momordica Charantia is a vegetable which grows in tropical areas like East Africa, Asia, South Africa, and the Caribbean. This vegetable is rich in iron, beta carotene, calcium, potassium, phosphorus and other dietary fibres. In many countries, it is also used as a herbal medicine due to its properties that help improve insulin production. Clinical studies show that bitter melon increases the production of beta cells in the pancreas which leads to improvement in the insulin production of the body. It is also believed to be beneficial for the liver and can act as an anti-tumour agent. Because of its health benefits, bitter melon is used by many as an alternative treatment for diabetes

Diabetes is a disease that is characterized by the presence of high levels of blood glucose and by the secretion of excess glucose in the urine. This ailment develops because of relatively low levels of insulin which leads to irregular carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism. Diabetic persons feel hungry and thirsty most of the time. In addition, these people get easily tired physically and mentally. They may also suffer from constipation, excessive itchiness around the genital area, and general weakness. Other body parts that are affected by diabetes are the heart, kidney, eyes, blood vessels, and the nerves. In addition to these health effects, diabetes is one of the major causes of erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotence among men.

Diabetes causes impotence because it alters the body systems such as the circulatory, nervous, and the endocrine system. The organs in these systems all work in harmony to let blood flow into the penis so an erection can take place. Higher levels of glucose caused by diabetes damages the blood vessels and the nerves. Complications in the state of blood vessels may hamper the flow of blood to the penis, hampering erection.  In addition, a number of medical studies show that diabetic persons are more likely to have low testosterone levels. Testosterone is a hormone that is responsible for enhanced libido, energy, and other reproductive health concerns. Men with type 1 diabetes are more likely to become impotent once they reach 40 years of age.

Many health experts are recommending the use of alternative medicines like better melons for diabetic management. Many studies show that bitter melon is able to reduce the blood sugar levels in the body. Charantin, polypeptide P, and oleanolic acid glucosides are some of the ingredients of bitter melon that are essential in diabetes treatment. Charantin consists of mixtures of natural steroids which are shown to reduce blood sugar levels in the body. Polypeptide P contains alkaloids that can also promote healthy blood sugar levels. Oleanolic acid glycosides, on the other hand, may prevent the retention of sugar from the intestines. Improvements in this area lead to improved insulin levels in the body.

Diabetes can be treated with alternative medicine and adjustments in lifestyles. Many health experts advice diabetic persons to include bitter melon in their diet to reduce their intake of anti-diabetic drugs. This alternative healing method, however, should not be regarded as a stand-alone treatment.

NATURAL CURE FOR PANIC ATTACK - You Don't Need To Suffer

Someone can suffer from panic attacks for various reasons. It might be due to a stressful or traumatic childhood. It could happen suddenly when the person feels anxious, or it can be due to other emotional problems, like stress or depression. More often, treatment does not need to involve any drugs or medication, at all. A natural cure for a panic attack is an option. Some people may prefer to use medications, but there are those who prefer a more wholesome solution. The problem with drugs is, they are only covering up the symptom, and not the underlying, real, problem. This can result in drug dependency, where another problem is developed, as the other one is resolved.

As with just about everything in this world, a balance is required to keep things in harmony with each other. That generally means a good diet and exercise for most. When the panic attacks begin to control our lives, there is very little left for anything else. And that's not healthy. People who suffer attacks should avoid stimulants, like caffeine, energy drinks and alcohol. Leaving them out of your diet can be an easy, natural way to reduce the possibility of suffering an attack.

There are Holistic treatments that would benefit, like aromatherapy, it is very important to try and relax. Try Chamomile or Tila infusions and try using supplements, especially those known to calm the body's nervous system, like vitamin B and magnesium. Panic attacks can be cured naturally, by improving a person's general health, physically and mentally.

English: passion flower
Passionflower (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Clinical trials (recently published in the Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics) found that Passion Flower extract worked similarly to many of the prescription drugs, currently prescribed for people suffering panic attacks. Natural Healers have used it for centuries, as a cure for anxiety and insomnia. It is even believed Passion Flower extract can be used to relieve anxiety, for people withdrawing from alcohol or drug addiction. Evidence seems to be pointing to the fact, this natural flower extract should be regarded as a powerful (and more importantly), natural cure for a panic attack.

There are several homeopathic remedies and tonics available, that can help panic attack sufferers. They can help the nervous system from becoming run down, due to too much worry and anxiety. Without rest, our mind and body can not stay alert and healthy. Some people need more sleep than others, the average is around eight hours.

Feeling tired certainly won't help, so make sure you are getting the sleep you need. If, despite your best efforts to stay calm, you do find yourself having an attack, try to stay calm and breath deeply. This can prevent hyperventilation and encourage the attack to pass, just that more easily. Learn more tips about a natural cure for a panic attack at http://www.stoppanicattackfast.com

A NATURAL REMEDY for Gingivitis, Toothaches, and Mouth Sores

Ulcerative necrotizing gingivitis
Ulcerative necrotizing gingivitis (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Everyone has a variety of bacteria in their mouth. Some have more than others. This bacterium helps you by beginning the digestive process.

Excess bacteria in your mouth have now been found to cause more than tooth decay, gingivitis or gum disease. So, you need to know, even though you might not have gingivitis, how to control these plaque-building bacteria in your mouth.

Bacteria that create gingivitis live in your plaque and cause your gums to inflame, bleed, and separate from your teeth. You can also have bad breath when you have gingivitis. In more severe cases, your gums become sore, teeth hurt, gums recede, and teeth loosen.

To stop the inflammation and gum separation use this natural remedy to kill some of these bacteria and strengthen your gums in your mouth.

Here are the herbs and the formula you will need to make a remedy for a mild case of gingivitis:
2 parts white oak bark herb – powder
1 part myrrh gum herb – power or granules
3/4 part Peppermint leaves converted to powder
½ part anise herb – power or seeds
1/8 part clove - powder
If herbs and leaves are not in powder form, grind them in a coffee grinder. Use this formula to make as much powder as you want.

Place the mixture into a small container. I usually use a small-unused vitamin bottle.

I usually mix a small amount and use a tablespoon as my measuring tool. For example, 2 tablespoons of white oak, 1 tablespoon of myrrh gum, a ¾ tablespoon of peppermint leaves, and so on. The measurements do not have to be so precise.

How to use it:

To control bacteria in your mouth, use this power once a week. If you have gingivitis, you can use this 3 times a day. Place some powder on your toothbrush and brush your teeth and gums. After brushing spit out, a few time, the saliva and residue powder. Don’t rinse out your mouth since you want to keep the active herb powders in your month. You can swallow any that remains in your mouth with no problem.

This powder combination is bitter, but quite powerful and will get the job done. You can add more peppermint powder to make it less bitter if you like.

For severe cases of gingivitis and toothaches, you can also moist some powder with distilled water and then place the paste all along your teeth and gums – front and back. Leave the paste in your mouth as long as you can. Don’t worry about the herbs getting in between your teeth. This remedy works.

My wife was scheduled for a root canal last year and a few weeks before her tooth started paining and couldn't sleep. So I made this remedy. She just placed the powers around the painful area. It wasn't long before the pain stopped and she was able to go to sleep.

There have been other clients that have used this remedy for a month and successfully avoided having the dentist apply gingivitis treatment. In cases of severe gingivitis, go see your dentist and at the same time use this remedy.

HERNIA

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia
Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Introduction

A hernia is an abnormal protrusion of internal organs through an abnormal opening in the wall of the cavity. A combination of increased pressure inside the body with weakness in the wall is responsible for this condition. In this condition, internal organs or parts of organs are protruded out forming a swelling which will increase the size with coughing and lifting the weight, and while passing stool and urine. In lying down position the swelling goes inside except in strangulated an irreducible hernia.

Causes:-

1, Weakness in the body wall:--

a) Congenital weakness.

b) Acquired weakness due to injuries, wasting of muscles, suppurative lesions in the wall and presence of weak natural openings, obesity, lack of exercise, repeated pregnancy.

c) Surgical operation with improper suturing or sepsis of operated site.

2) Increased pressure inside the body.
a) Chronic constipation.

b) A recurrent cough.

c) Weightlifting.

d) Stricture of the urethra.

Common sites for a hernia:--

A hernia can occur anywhere in the body. However, there are some common sites for a hernia. Due to the presence of hard bony covering chest wall is normally not affected. A hernia in the lower back is also rare due to spine and back muscles and tough ligaments and sheets. The common site for a hernia is an abdominal wall. Compared to other parts the abdominal wall is weak due to the presence of some natural orifices. There are some areas wherein the abdominal muscles are weaker and thin and all these factors make a chance for herniation. The common sites for a hernia are following.

Here the abdominal contents protrude through the inguinal canal (passage in the lower abdominal wall just above the inguinal ligament. It is seen on either side). This type is common in males. Initially, the swelling comes only while straining and goes back while lying down. Later the large portion of the intestine may come out which may not go back easily.

b) A femoral hernia:

This type of a hernia is more in females. Here the abdominal contents pass through the femoral canal which is seen just below the junction between the thigh and lower abdominal wall(Inside the femoral triangle). The contents pass downwards and come out through a saphenous opening in the thigh and form a swelling under the skin.

This is common in children. The umbilicus is the weaker part of the abdomen. The contents of the abdomen may protrude as a bulb like swelling while crying and defecating.

d) An incisional hernia:

These hernias are seen in operated sites. Due to improper suturing or sepsis, the operated site becomes weak resulting in a hernia.

Here the herniation occurs in the epigastrium. It is a rare type.

Here the hernia appears in the lumbar area on either side of the lumbar spine(in the lumbar triangle). This is also a rare type.

g) Obturator a hernia:

This is a rare type of hernia. Here the contents pass through obturator foramen in the pelvic bone.

Complications of a hernia:--

1) Strangulation:

If the hernial orifice is narrow the abdominal contents may not go back easily, and later the blood flow to the herniated tissues may be blocked due to constriction. This can cause the death of protruded intestine.

2) Intestinal obstruction:

This occurs when the whole portion of the intestine is protruded into the hernial sac. The narrow hernial orifice will block the passage of bowels.

3) Infection and peritonitis:

If there is strangulation with the death of a portion of intestine there will be spread of infection to the abdomen resulting in peritonitis.

Treatment of a hernia:--

Initial treatment: In the initial stages of a hernia the following steps may be useful

1) Use of hernia belt:

Special types of hernia belts are available for each type of a hernia. This will prevent the protrusion and will reduce pain.

2) Constipation, recurrent cough, urinary obstruction etc. should be treated.

3) Fat reduction will increase the strength of the abdominal wall.

4) Abdominal exercises to increase the muscle tone.

5) Take plenty of leafy vegetables, fruits and fibrous diet for easy bowel movements.

6) Try other systems like Homoeopathy, Herbal medicine and etc

If no relief by the above steps consults a general surgeon for surgical management.

Surgical treatment.

The following operations are done depending upon the type and nature of a hernia.

1) Herniotomy: In this operation, the contents of the hernial sac are pushed into the abdomen and neck of the sac is ligated with transfixion ligature and the sac is cut off.

2) Herniorrhaphy: Here along with herniotomy, the posterior wall is repaired.

3) Hernioplasty: This operation is done if herniotomy is not possible due to the wide neck of the sac. Here the repair is done with the help of non-absorbable materials like tantalum gauze, polypropylene mesh or stainless steel mesh.

Natural Cure by AYURVEDA

Ayurveda is perhaps the oldest system of health care in the world and originates from the Indian subcontinent.

Ayurveda is based on scientific principles of diagnosis and treatment. It differs from conventional medicine in the basic principles of investigation and assigning causes to processes rather than specific areas of physiology.

Ayurveda has been a vogue since 5000 years ago. Our Vedas have been repeated references to the efficacy of Ayurveda as a science of healthy living. The western world is now realizing the value of Ayurveda in treating Chronic diseases like Arthritis, Paralysis, Stroke, Neurological disorders etc. Even WHO has given a high rating for Ayurveda system.

It differs from conventional medicine in the basic principles of investigation and assigning causes to processes rather than specific areas of physiology. The increasing awareness of herbal medicines in Western markets such as USA, UK, Canada and Japan and the technological advancements in biotech industry were two major reasons which compelled us to offer a platform like this.

Here are some Important Herbs and their Uses:

Ashwagandha ( Withania Somnifera), ( Winter Cherry): Traditionally, Ashwagandha has been used in many ways--as a sedative, a diuretic, a rejuvenating tonic, an anti-inflammatory agent, and as an "adaptogen" (endurance enhancer). Many Western herbalists refer to this herb as "Ayurvedic ginseng" because of its reputation for increasing energy, strength, and stamina, and for its ability to relieve stress. It is especially beneficial in stress related disorders such as arthritis, hypertension, diabetes, general debility, etc. It has also shown impressive results when used as stimulants for the immune system.

English: Indian gooseberry or Amla Phyllanthus...
Amla ( Emblica officinalis), ( Indian Goosebery): Amla contains the highest amount of Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid), Phyllembin, Phyllemblic acid, Gallic acid, Ellagic acid in natural form and Cytokin like substance identified as Zeatin, Zriboside, Z nucleotide, Tannins 30%. It is one of the strongest rejuvenatives in Indian pharmacopeia. It contains 30 times the amount of Vitamin C found in oranges. Its antibacterial, carminative, hypoglycemic, stomachic, Hypotensive and astringent action prevents infection, helps in healing of ulcers, treatment of jaundice, dyspepsia and cough and controls hyperacidity. Alma is a good Cardio Tonic and its mild stimulant action on heart helps to control blood pressure. The use of Indian Gooseberry enhances the antidiabetic action of Karela. Phyllanthus Emblica is a very good hair tonic.

Brahmi (Bacopa Monniera): Aside from increasing intellectual and cognitive function, Brahmi induces a sense of calm and peace in its users. It is unique in its ability to invigorate mental processes whilst reducing the effects of stress and nervous anxiety. This makes Brahmi extremely applicable in highly stressful work or study environments where clarity of thought is as important as being able to work under pressure. Many people have the intelligence to perform to strict standards but lack the composure and self-confidence to reach them. Additionally, Brahmi helps soothe the restlessness and distraction that nervousness causes. Brahmi is ideal for students and workers faced with this problem.

Shallaki ( Boswellia Serrata): Today its major use is as an anti-inflammatory agent for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, low back pain, myositis, fibrositis, and osteoarthritis. Experimental and clinical usage of boswella indicates it has none of the side effects on blood pressure, heart rate of the gastric irritation and ulcers associated with many anti-inflammatory and antiarthritic drugs. It is now an approved herbal medicine in India for use against osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, soft tissue rheumatism, low back pain, myositis and fibrositis. In the United States, physicians are giving boswella high marks for effectiveness. Dr. E. W. McDonagh, a Kansas City physician, has reported success among some 350 patients suffering from a variety of advanced muscular and skeletal conditions for which other treatments had failed to help.

English: Momordica charantia, Cucurbitaceae, B...
Karela ( Bitter Gourd), ( Bitter Melon), ( Momordica charantia): Bitter Melon, also known as Karela, Momordica Charantia or Bitter Gourd is a herb that helps regulate blood sugar levels and keeps body functions operating normally. It contains Gurmarin, a polypeptide considered to be similar to bovine insulin, which has been shown in experimental studies to achieve a positive sugar regulating effect by suppressing the neural response to sweet taste stimuli. Karela's principle constituents are lectins, charantin and momordicine. The fruits have long been used in India as a folk remedy for diabetes mellitus. Lectins from the bitter gourd have shown significant antilipolytic and lipogenic activities.

Shilajit (Asphaltum): This is Shilajit, one of Ayurveda's most potent and unique rejuvenatives. The ancient medical literature attributes many health benefits to Shilajit known as "conqueror of mountains and destroyer of weakness." It has been said that there is hardly any curable disease which cannot be assisted with the aid of Shilajit. Shilajit has been used historically for general physical strengthening, anti-aging, blood sugar stabilization, libido, injury healing, urinary tract rejuvenation, enhanced brain functioning potency, bone healing, kidney rejuvenation, immune system Strengthening, arthritis, hypertension, obesity and much other application for numerous conditions.

Garlic ( Lasuna), ( Allium sativum): The platelet and hypolipidemic activities of Lasuna ensures smooth coronary function. Garlic is regarded as one of the most effective remedies to lower blood pressure. The pressure and tension are reduced because it has the power to ease the spasm of the small arteries. It also slows the pulse and modifies the heart rhythm, besides relieving the symptoms of dizziness, shortness of breath and the formation of gas within the digestive track. It has an antiseptic effect and is an excellent remedy for infectious diseases and inflammations of the stomach and intestine. Human population studies show that eating garlic regularly reduces the risk of esophageal, stomach, and colon cancer. This is partly due to garlic's ability to reduce the formation of carcinogenic compounds.

Triphala: Triphala, a cornerstone of Ayurvedic medicine, is a composite herbal preparation containing equal proportions of the fruits of three myrobalans, Emblica Officinalis, Terminalia chebula and Terminalia bellirica. When consumed for a long period, it helps reduce excess weight. It promotes good colon health and acts as a laxative without causing cramps or irritation. It gently stimulates the intestinal walls and restores tone to the colon, thus helping in the elimination process, providing a colon cleansing effect. Guggulu: ( Bedellium), ( COMMIPHORA MUKUL): Studies show that a 14-27% of LDL cholesterol and 22-30% of triglycerides levels were reduced when guggul was given to men and women with high cholesterol for 12 weeks with no change in diet or exercise. Research with laboratory animals suggests guggul may help enhance thyroid function. Since the thyroid gland produces hormones that are needed to regulate metabolism, it can help in weight loss. Studies show guggul may change thyroid hormone metabolism, increase levels of circulating T3, or triiodothyronine, a thyroxine metabolite known to raise overall metabolism, which in turn increases fat burning. Since guggul supports atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), which may impede blood flow to and from the penis, guggul may possibly be the treatment for impotence many men are looking for.

Tulsi ( Holy Basil), ( Tulasi): Tulsi has antioxidant properties, and helps boost the body's ability to fight off damaging free radicals, which have been linked to disease and aging. It is an adaptogen that helps the body fight the effects of ongoing stress and also balances the mind, nerves and emotions. Tulsi maintains the health of the throat chest and lungs. In fact, it helps protect the entire respiratory tract. It is an anti-inflammatory. A herb that promotes optimum respiratory support. Tulasi has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, expectorant properties and is useful in respiratory tract infections. It helps during respiratory stress.

Neem (AZADIRACHTA INDICA): Neem effectively kills the bacteria that cause Acne and studies prove that Neem will reduce inflammation, even the inflammation produced by Acne. In the case of eczema, clinical studies demonstrate that even the application of weaker Neem leaf extracts effectively cured acute conditions of eczema, what to speak of the fresh cold pressed oil with its high concentration of active ingredients. Modern clinical studies have identified a number of compounds in the Neem tree that effectively regulate immune system functions. Whether drinking a simple cup of tea out of the leaves or taking extracts of the Neem leaf, Neem significantly and consistently reduced insulin requirements for nonketotic, insulin fast, and insulin sensitive forms of Diabetes. The pain, inflammation, and swelling of the joints in arthritis can be greatly reduced by different compounds in Neem

Arjuna (TERMINALIA ARJUNA): Arjun improves cardiac muscle function and pumping action of the heart. Scientific studies have shown Arjun to be very effective when used regularly over a period of time for the treatment of angina, coronary artery disease, heart failure, edema, and possibly hypercholesterolemia. Studies have also shown Arjun to have positive effects in the treatment of gonorrhea. Externally, this herb has been used to treat acne, blemishes, wounds, dysentery, and diarrhea.

Cardio training is essential when you need to make health improvements. For starters, it is best to do the 30 to 45 minutes of exercises, 3 to 5 days a week. If you are aiming for weight loss, the training must be done 5 days a week. The more frequent you do it; the more likely it is that you will lose weight. However, avoid exhausting yourself too much in exercise. Avoid going beyond 45 minutes. Remember, it has to be done on a regular basis.

Start now. Walk or ride the bike around the neighborhood now. Follow that aerobics video you purchased. Set a goal and follow that goal. At the same time, modify your diet too. Eat healthy food.

As you increase in the fitness level, the intensity of the training must also increase. This is to have an area of variation and there should always be room for improvement. Implement this by intensifying some parts of the training. If you are into jogging or running, increase speed every 5 minutes for at least a minute or two. It is important that you challenge yourself, so as not to be stuck in a stump.

Avoid doing the cardio exercises before bedtime. You will have a difficult time sleeping if you do so as the energy level of the body will stay high for some time.

If you are undergoing weight training too, do the cardio exercises right after, not before.

It is best to take a snack 30 minutes before doing the cardio exercises. Do not start with training in an empty stomach. This will not help in achieving the proper momentum when you train. At the same time, avoid indulging in large meals too before exercise. Just give your body the proper supply it will need to sustain exhausting movements.

It is good to do the cardio exercises outdoors. This way you can easily interact with nature and breathe fresh air. You can also simply enjoy going around the neighborhood as you get your system healthier by the minute. It is possible to make some friends among the people who also do their exercises.

Be consistent and stick with the training once you have started it. This is the only way that cardio training will benefit your body and your health in the long run.

A NATURAL CURE For Angular Cheilitis - Speedy Healing For Cracked Lip Corners

English: Angular cheilitis as marked by the oval
Angular cheilitis as marked by the oval (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
The lack of effective over the counter remedies or prescription medication leads many to look for a natural cure for angular cheilitis. Having cracked lip corners can be painful, frustrating and embarrassing. For many people, once they have this condition, it can be difficult to eradicate. The cracks at the corner of the mouth never seem to heal, with everyday things such as laughing, speaking, eating and drinking sometimes causing excruciating pain.

We all have bacteria which naturally lives around the lips. Under normal circumstances, this causes no problems whatsoever. When something happens to cause the bacteria to reproduce, it can develop into a fungal infection It is primarily caused by a fungal bacterial infection, causing the typical symptoms of angular cheilitis which include cracked corners of lips which can bleed intermittently. Sore, red patches in the corners of the mouth which develop into painful lesions and some sufferers also have white swollen patches on the tongue.

The actual causes of angular cheilitis are varied but can include a deficiency in certain nutrients-particularly iron and the vitamin B group. One common cause is improper mouth closure often caused by ill-fitting dentures or braces. This is because the mouth can remain slightly open, causing small amounts of saliva to be trapped in small pockets of skin. The moist warm conditions are perfect to aid bacterial growth and as the bacteria within the saliva is effectively "trapped", it flourishes and then causes the symptoms of angular cheilitis. Similarly, people who gain large amounts of weight can develop small pockets of skin around the lip area and this can lead to the condition.

Although many people believe that angular cheilitis is caused by the cold virus, this is not the case, although it is known that extremes of temperature can increase the likelihood in susceptible individuals.

Other common causes include anything which results in saliva being in contact with the skin around the mouth-for example pen-biting, thumb-sucking and nail-biting. In addition, people with a generally weakened immune system can also suffer.

If your condition is mild, there are a couple of natural cures for angular cheilitis which can help give some relief and may in some cases provide a speedy cure. You could try putting a thick layer of petroleum jelly over the affected area. This will give some pain relief as it will temporarily ease cracked corners of lips. If you feel that dentures are the problem, then have the fit checked over and in the meantime, use a medicated mouthwash and ensure the dentures are kept scrupulously clean and sterilized overnight to avoid them harboring bacteria. If the problem is due to pen or nail biting or thumb sucking, it is worth using an anti-nail-biting solution on the fingers/thumb and even painting this on the end of pens to discourage the practice.

A Look at the DANDRUFF Cause and Treatment in Detail

English: Scanning Electron Microscope picture ...

A flaky scalp is prone to dandruff. Dandruff results from the immoderate shedding of dead cells from the surface skin of the scalp in form of white flakes. Flaky scalp in children is very common. Dandruff can be a symptom of such scalp problems as psoriasis, seborrhoeic and lice. Normal dandruff can be treated with an anti-dandruff shampoo. The best dandruff shampoo is rich in antifungal properties.

Various causes of flaky scalp

Flaking of the dead cells from the scalp is a natural and normal phenomenon. Dandruff results when irritation of the scalp or some skin allergy causes excessive flaking. Dandruff is also caused by excessive perspiration and fungal infection of the scalp. The formation of yeast on the scalp is also a dandruff cause.

Another cause for dandruff and dry scalp is cold weather. The scalp surface becomes dry in cold weather. It then easily flakes off and sheds its dead skin cells that in turn, result in dandruff. Allergic reaction to some food and nutritional deficiency in the diet can be major reasons for dandruff. Deficiency of omega 3 acids and B-complex vitamins can cause the dead skin cells of the scalp to flake off excessively. Excessive use of chemically rich hair cosmetics like gels, sprays, dyes and coloring chemicals causes flaking of the dead skin cells from the scalp by leading to roughness and dryness of the scalp.

How to Cure Dandruff

To remove different kinds of dandruff, it is very important to know how to treat dry flaky scalp.

  • External Treatment – It includes the use of an anti-dandruff shampoo. Some anti-dandruff shampoos are herbal in nature with antifungal and antibacterial properties. Massage of the scalp with some specific natural oil is one of the dandruff home remedies.
  • Nutritional Treatment – A diet that contains nutritionally rich food provides nutritional treatment for dandruff. You can use canola oil in sauting, as a marinade and even in low temperature stir frying.  It has a bland flavor, which makes it a great oil for foods that contain many spices.  Unlike other oils, this one won't interfere with the taste of your meal.

2.  Olive oil
olive oil offers a very distinct flavor with plenty of heart healthy ingedients.  The oil is rich in monounsaturated fat, helps to lower cholesterol levels and reduce risk of cancer.  It's also rich in antioxidants and has a very long storage life.

Even though it can be used in cooking, it's the healthiest when uncooked, such as with a salad or dipping sauce.  When you use it with cooking, you should heat it on low to medium temperatures, making sure to avoid high heat.

3.  Butter

of Vitamin A and other fat soluble vitamins such as E, K, and even D.  Butter is also made from natural ingredients and not chemically or artificially processed.

You can use butter with cooking, baking, or even as a spread.  You can also pair it with creamy sauces, marinades, baked dishes, or even bread.

4.  Margarine
Margarine was first introduced as an alternative to high fat butter.  When it was first created however,
it was loaded with trans fat, a substance that we now know raises bad cholesterol.

As a cooking oil, margarine tastes good, it's lower in fat than most oils and butter, and it's quite easy to spread.  It's available in a variety of different products and a good source of vitamin E.

If there is one equipment you should not miss in your training, it is the stability ball. The market comes up with new training tools every now and then. Yet you are not sure if they do work and if they are safe. So for one that is guaranteed to work, use the stability ball.

What Is a Stability Ball?

This is a large and inflatable ball used as an exercise equipment. Despite being air-filled, it is generally heavy-duty and capable to hold 600 to 700 pounds of weight. It is comfortable and gives good support. It perfectly suits the trainee as it easily goes with the structure of the body.

This exercise tool is also sometimes called as the physioball or the Swiss Ball.

The good thing about using the stability ball is it reduces the perception of ‘working’ in training, especially for beginners. It gives some element of ‘play’ as you get rough with the training. It adds some fun and excitement as you advance in the movements and techniques.

Another good point with the ball is that it can be used by anybody. No fitness level is required. It is very portable and lightweight, easy to bring along even when traveling. It is also inexpensive compared to other exercise equipment and it could last for a very long time.

How Stability Balls Came About?

The use of the stability balls for training can be traced in rehabilitation. As early as the 1900’s, physical therapists have been using balls in addressing the neurological disorders of their patients.

Then, in the early 1960’s, Aquilino Cosani, an Italian toy maker, made the ball and sold it, known then as the ‘Gymnastik.’ Two decades after, Cosani came up with a company called Gymnic and became the major supplier of the stability ball to most rehabilitation programs and centers.

The ball then shifted from the rehabilitation to the athletic area, in the 90’s. It was used to condition the body of professional athletes. From then on, the ball became very prominent in the fitness community.

At present medical specialists and fitness professionals very much recommend the use of the stability ball by the public. It serves more than solving physical problems. It is good for preventing you from having one.

2. Great Abs
For people working out to achieve great abs, this ball can definitely target the abdominal areas. The abs and the back muscles are simultaneously moved as you work in your balance. Just imagine the good feeling of having a flat stomach area and you will definitely love this ball.

3. Muscle Strength and Endurance
The stability ball can help in alleviating any back pain and preventing one in the future. As all the major muscle groups are exercised, the muscle tone, strength, and endurance are also improved. Thus it gives the body flexibility, stability, and resistance.

4. Core Stability
This concerns the major muscles that help stabilize and support all of the body movements. This is made up of back and the deep abdominal muscles. With the ball, no matter how ‘deep’ or ‘into the core’ these muscles are, they are still exercised. This is something only the stability ball can guarantee.
